Your people, past the reach of help
Organisations with staff working beyond the emergency services they pay for carry a duty of care that does not pause because a site has no signal. Neither does the liability.
Duty of care does not pause for bad signal
Most lone worker and remote operations policies rest on a single assumption: that in an emergency, someone can be reached. Read your own policy carefully and there is usually a place where that stops being true — and it is generally the place where an incident is most likely and help is furthest away.
The reachability gap
A check-in schedule tells you something has gone wrong. It does not tell the person on scene what to do for the hours before anyone arrives.
The training gap
First-aid certification covers the first few minutes. Remote incidents are measured in hours, and nobody trains for hour three.
The evidence gap
When an incident is investigated, what was done and when becomes the whole question. Memory is a poor record and a worse defence.
Most policies are wrong somewhere.
People working past the reach of the services you pay for
Any operation where the distance to definitive care is measured in hours rather than minutes, and where the person best placed to help has no medical training.
- Remote worksites, pipelines, and extraction operations
- Maritime and offshore, where evacuation is weather-dependent
- Expedition and adventure programs carrying duty of care for clients
- Utilities and infrastructure crews working alone or in pairs
- Mining, forestry, and agriculture at distance from care
- Construction on remote or phased sites
- Distributed and travelling teams under corporate duty of care
- Facilities where an incident can outlast the response plan
On the devices you already issue
GEGS™ does not require dedicated hardware to be useful. It can be deployed on the phones an organisation already issues, on purpose-profiled wearables where a phone is impractical, or on standalone edge hardware where a general-purpose device is not appropriate.
- No connectivity dependency
- Once installed there is no carrier coverage requirement and no server to reach.
- No per-incident subscription check
- The guidance does not phone home to verify entitlement before it will run.
- Records that survive
- Actions are captured and held encrypted on the device, and transmit when connectivity returns.
- Multilingual workforces
- Operable across languages on the device, without a separate deployment per region.
A note on what this is and is not
GEGS™ is a guidance platform. It is not a substitute for professional medical care where such care is available, and it does not replace a competent emergency response plan, trained first aiders, or the equipment your operations require. It is built for the interval those measures do not cover.
